Nile Gregory Rodgers Jr. is an American guitarist, singer-songwriter, record producer, and choreographer. Chic co-founder Rodgers has written, produced, and performed on albums that have sold more than 500 million copies and 75 million singles worldwide. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, three-time Grammy Award winner and president of the Writers Hall of Fame. Known for his "chucking" guitar playing style, Rolling Stone wrote in 2014 that "Nile Rodgers' entire career remains elusive." Founded as the Big Apple Band in 1972 with bassist Bernard Edwards, Chic released his debut album of the same name in 1977, featuring hit singles "Dance, Dance, Dance" and "Everybody Dance". The 1978 album C'est Chic produced hits "I Want Your Love" and "The Freak", with its second album selling over 7 million singles worldwide.
